The Care Quality Commission visited us on the 26th July 2013 . During their visit they would be auditing Approach Lodge as routine check on:

  • Care and welfare of people who use services
  • Cooperating with other providers
  • Management of medicines
  • Supporting workers
  • Complaints

They would then reach one of the following judgements in each outcome looked into:

a. Compliant b. Minor Concern c. Moderate Concern d. Major Concern

We are proud to announce that we were judged as “Compliant” in all 5 Outcome areas judged which is the best possible scoring available to us. We would like to congratulate everyone that has supported us and continue supporting us, as Approach lodge have now received no recommendations for CQC 3 years in a row. We are extremely happy about this.

The care plans followed a principle called "My Life" focusing on putting each person at the centre of their own care and rehabilitation programme.

The person who spoke with us had moved into the home shortly before our inspection in 2012. This person said they felt "really settled" in the home and was "happy" to be living there.

Two support workers who spoke with us said they felt that the staff group supported each other and worked well as a team. When we asked about the opportunities that were available for training we were told that the provider had a clear commitment to ensuring that staff were trained and supported in their work.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.
